Dear Brutus
Greater Lewisville Community Theatre is thrilled to present the magical Dear Brutus, which runs March 29-April 14. The play was written by J.M. Barrie, creator of Peter Pan, and directed by GLCT stage veteran Daniel Bierly. An odd assortment of guests are warned against going into the woods for it is Midsummer Eve (there is no woods in the neighborhood, but legend says that it sometimes appears). A philanderer, his young wife and the current object of his affections; an artist who has lost faith in himself and his wife who despises him; an indolent lady and a delightful old couple venture into the forest that appears outside the windows and find dreams and desires answered. When they return, they gradually revert to their former state, but not without a memory of the wood. Dear Brutus explores what might happen if ordinary men and women, mired in unhappiness, were given the magical opportunity to remake their lives, or, as the butler Matey says, the chance to "take the right turning." The play addresses the human proclivity to blame others or fate for their failures and unhappiness, and provides the audience with penetrating insights into human nature. GLCT is located at 160 W. Main St. in Old Town Lewisville. The entrance and parking are in the rear off of Elm Street. Tickets are $25 for Adults and $20 for 65 and over and 18 and under. Performances are Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m. and Sundays at 3 p.m. There is an additional matinee performance on Saturday, February 23. Information and online ticketing is available at www.GLCT.org or call the box office at (972) 221-SHOW (7469).
