Area Hospitals
Residents of Lewisville are surrounded by some of the best health care in
the country. Lewisville residents have top-quality hospitals in their own
backyard: Medical Center of Lewisville, Trinity Medical Center, located in North
Carrollton and Baylor Medical Center in Grapevine. They also are only a short
drive away from the Metroplex's most famous hospitals, including University of
Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Baylor University Medical Center, Parkland
Memorial Hospital, Methodist Medical Center, Columbia-Medical City of Dallas and
Zale Lipshy University Hospital.
Medical Center of
Lewisville
Construction of a new four story patient tower and power plant has been
completed at the Medical Center of Lewisville. This new completed project
is now part of the entrance to The Historic Downtown Lewisville area, better
known as Old Town Lewisville. The project began with the acquisition of 51
residential properties south of the current hospital as well as other
acquisitions that include the office complex at 250 S. Stemmons Freeway, a gas
station, a check cashing center, a brake shop, and a retail strip center all
located on the access road of IH35.
The tower, which is on the West side of the existing facility on Main Street, is
constructed so that three more floors can be added in the future. The
first floor will house registration, laboratory, pharmacy and respiratory
therapy departments as well as a new kitchen and cafeteria. The second
floor will be 14 Labor, Delivery, and Recovery (LDR) rooms and a 16-bed Neonatal
Intensive Care Unit (Level III Nursery). The third floor will also be
dedicated to Women's Services with 28 private post-partum rooms, a normal
newborn nursery, and a 10-bed pediatric unit. The fourth floor of the new
tower will house a 32-bed medical/surgical unit. With the new addition,
the Medical Center of Lewisville has expanded its bed capacity to 206 beds and
all beds are private.
Lewisville is only a portion of the population that the Medical Center of
Lewisville provides for. The service area includes: Flower Mound,
Highland Village, Lake Dallas, Denton, The Colony, Corinth, Coppell, Argyle,
North Carrollton and Little Elm.

Trinity Medical Center
During the 11 years Trinity Medical Center has been part of the
Metrocrest community, its campus and services have continually grown and
expanded. From newborns, with a level III Neonatal Care Unit, to geriatrics,
Trinity Medical Center offers comprehensive health care services for every
family member.
At Trinity Medical Center, some of the area's finest specialists in the
fields of infertility, pediatrics, geriatrics and women's health are part of its
medical team. Comprised of more than 400 physicians representing 37 specialties,
and supported by a dedicated team of nurses and allied health professionals, the
medical staff at Trinity Medical Center understands the importance of prompt and
comprehensive care.
Along with its 149-bed acute care facility, Trinity's 60-acre campus
includes three office buildings, The Women's Center, the Trinity Senior
Healthcare Center, a full-service pharmacy, the 180-bed Brookhaven nursing
facility and the Trinity Easter Seal Society for Children. And, Trinity Medical
Center is expanding into neighboring communities like Lewisville, with Trinity
West Medical Plaza; The Colony, with The Colony Family Medical Center; and
Frisco, with the Frisco Family Medical Center.
Trinity Medical Center is also partnering on its third medical plaza in
Denton County. The new Trinity Flower Mound Medical Plaza is a venture between
Trinity Medical Center and Harpavat Investment management. The 47,000
square-foot, three story building is located on a 12-acre site near FM 1171 and
FM 2499 in Flower Mound, and is the first major medical complex in this rapidly
growing community of 40,000.
Trinity Flower Mound Medical Plaza will serve as a satellite facility for
Trinity Medical Center and offer a range of outpatient services, including
radiology, laboratory, physical therapy, occupational medicine, sports medicine
and women's services, as well as an urgent care center. In addition to medical
services, Trinity Flower Mound Medical Plaza will also house a wide range of
primary and specialty physician offices.
Cook Children's
Medical Center
Cook Children's Medical Center is the cornerstone of the health care
system. The 181-bed facility offers access to board certified pediatricians
representing more than 40 medical specialties. The medical center, which serves
children primarily from a 90-county area in north and west Texas, has nationally
recognized programs in hematology and oncology, cardiology, cardiovascular
surgery, and neonatolgy. The medical center also has a neuro-rehabilitation
program, pediatric and neonatal intensive care units, a level II pediatric
trauma receiving center, and a comprehensive bone marrow transplantation
program. Cook Children's Transport Services is one of the busiest pediatric
programs in the nation with more than 1,700 runs annually by ambulance,
helicopter, and airplane.
More than 185,000 children received treatment at the medical center in 2003. No
children are refused necessary medical treatment based on their parent's
inability to pay, and in 2003, Cook Children's provided more than $48.9 million
of uncompensated care for uninsured or underinsured children. This number has
more than doubled over the past six years and continues to rise at a significant
rate.
Baylor Medical Center
at Grapevine
At the center of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, just 21 miles northwest
of Dallas and 19 miles northeast of Fort Worth, Baylor Medical Center at
Grapevine is an acute care, full-service hospital licensed for 104 beds. Because
of its scope of service and its proximity to the Dallas/Fort Worth International
Airport, it is included in the airport's disaster plan and has been designated
the "medical control center" for several surrounding communities. The medical
staff represents most major specialties, including family practice, obstetrics
and gynecology, pediatrics, cardiology, oral surgery, plastic surgery,
ophthalmology, internal medicine, otolaryngology, general surgery, orthopedics
and gastroenterology.
A recent $17.7 million expansion includes new outpatient service areas; an
expanded emergency department; a larger birthing center with labor, delivery and
recovery rooms, nursery and postpartum rooms; and an expanded intensive care
unit. Services include women's health services, intensive care/cardiac care,
physical rehabilitation and advanced imaging including open-air MRI, CT,
mammography and angiography.
