Congressman Burgess' 2017 Emergency Preparedness Summit & Fair
Emergency Preparedness Summit & Fair
Congressman Burgess is hosting his annual Emergency Preparedness Summit & Fair on Saturday morning, April 8th at Lewisville High School. Since weather in North Texas is unpredictable and can change in an instant, we can never be too prepared for rough weather and unforeseen natural and man-made disasters that may impact the region. In an effort to help residents be better prepared, Congressman Burgess is partnering with Lewisville ISD, the City of Lewisville, and Denton County Emergency Services plus many other organizations to host an informative and family fun event for all age groups, kids to seniors!
At this free public event, families can tour indoor and outdoor exhibits/vehicles providing emergency and disaster preparedness resources and make & takes as well as view live safety demonstrations. There will be a “Kid Safety Zone” with activities geared to children that will engage the whole family in becoming prepared for any type of emergency situation. The event will open to the public at 8:00 am with access to the fair, and presentations will beginning at 8:30 am; the event will conclude at 12:00 Noon. Help us to #PrepareNTX!
Event higlights include confirmed presenters Rick Mitchell - NBC 5 Meteorologist and Mark Fox - Warning & Coordination Meteorologist, National Weather Service - Fort Worth. Inside, we will feature a “Kids Safety Zone” with Home Depot providing a make & take project and the Lewisville Fire Department conducing a Child ID program. Also, outside there will be live demonstrations by Texas Task Force 2 Urban Search & Rescue Canine Teams and CoServ's Electrical ARCing “Can’t Touch This”.
